BW Fusion, Biodyne, and Agronomy 365 Join to Create Market-Leading Platform for Crop Nutrition
The union helps BW Fusion accelerate product innovations and enhance grower support
FORT WAYNE, Indiana (AgPR) November 19, 2024 — A new company has been formed that will offer growers more effective and sustainable biologicals at every stage of the crop nutrition cycle.
BW Fusion, an innovator in agricultural crop and soil nutrition; Biodyne, an environmental microbiology company; and Agronomy 365, a tech-enabled crop analytics and management program, announced their merging to create an integrated platform under BW Fusion. The transaction formalized a previous strategic alliance between the three companies.
Biodyne has a long history of developing beneficial microbes for environmental applications. BW Fusion partnered with the company in 2019 to focus its research and products on helping reduce soil contamination and improve overall plant health in row crops. As BW Fusion expanded, Agronomy 365 was brought into the mix to measure biological activity in the soil, track data, and produce insights to help growers make better crop nutrient decisions.
Going forward, BW Fusion will marry Biodyne's 30+ years of biological research, Agronomy 365's cutting-edge data and software tools, and BW Fusion's product development, manufacturing, and commercial expertise. This powerful combination means everything a grower needs in a biological company is under one roof, from R&D to quality control to data and insights. BW Fusion aims to bring innovative solutions to the industry more efficiently.
"Our mission has always been to help growers improve crop productivity and long-term soil health," said BW Fusion Chief Agronomist and Product Officer Jason Schley, a third-generation grower from South Dakota. "Because we farm too, we understand the importance of providing growers with the right data to make informed decisions. Through our partnership to date, it's evident that leveraging our combined strengths supports growers with the resources they need at scale to improve farming methods and increase long-term profits."
BW Fusion goes beyond product sales. They employ seasoned agronomists who also train and educate growers about soil health and how to maximize their crop nutrition programs.
"The products we provide and the information we share are revolutionary and can change the way growers feed their crops," said BW Fusion Partner Grant Wells. "We can show growers exactly what their soil and plants need, how to increase the efficiency and efficacy of crop nutrient applications, and ultimately how to increase yields."
Bain Capital Double Impact, the impact investing arm of Bain Capital, provided financial support for the transaction.
"Our products are currently on more than 1 million acres across the country, and we are excited to partner with Bain Capital Double Impact to continue and expand our support of growers while simultaneously helping the environment win," added Wells.
"Our investment in the BW Fusion platform reflects our strategy of partnering with mission-driven companies to help them scale and achieve greater climate and sustainability results," said Bain Capital Double Impact Partner Jacob Donnelly.
Financial terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.

How to overcome GNSS limitations with RTK correction services
Although GNSS offers ubiquitous coverage worldwide, its accuracy can be hindered in some situations - signals can be attenuated by heavy vegetation, for example, or obstructed by tall buildings in dense urban canyons. This results in signals being received indirectly or via the multipath effect, leading to inaccuracy, or even blocked entirely. Unimpeded GNSS positioning in all real world scenarios is therefore unrealistic - creating a need for supporting technologies, such as real time kinematic (RTK) positioning and dead reckoning, to enable centimeter-accuracy for newer mass-market IoT devices.
